Two Most Important Days

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

― Mark Twain

Consider:
      Why are you here?

What are you doing about it?

Seeking Brings Light and Truth

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf recently taught

"Please consider the magnitude of this promise: The Everlasting and Almighty God, the Creator of this vast universe, will speak to those who approach Him with a sincere heart and real intent."

What is God's plan for you?

Moments That Matter Most

We would do well to slow down a little, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes, and truly see the things that matter most. Read the entire address "Of Things That Matter Most" at http://bit.ly/momentsmatter

Can't Afford the Big Boys' Courses???

Rosetta Stone
I just came across this new method of learning a foreign language. Being the Massive Giving blog, how could I not let everyone know about it.  Yes! It's FREE.

Of course, they don't just magically pour the language into your brain.  You still have to put in the effort to learn.  You just have no out of pocket cost.

But, how can they afford to just give it away?  No, they don't plaster the site with advertisements to generate income.   They actually benefit from the things you do as you complete the courses.

How do they benefit, you ask?  As hard as it is to believe, as you take the course, you are actually helping them translate internet web pages into the language you are learning.

So you win by learning a language for free.  They win by getting free labor to do the translations they are interested in.

Helping Low-Income Entrepreneurs

I want to let you know about Kiva (www.kiva.org), a non-profit that allows you to lend as little as $25 to a specific low-income entrepreneur across the globe.

You choose who to lend to - whether a baker in Afghanistan, a goat herder in Uganda, a farmer in Peru, a restaurateur in Cambodia or a tailor in Iraq - and as they repay their loan, you get your money back. It's a powerful and sustainable way to empower someone right now to lift themselves out of poverty.

Massive Giving - Two Year Anniversary

I think it's time to wrap up the "send a card to the troops" effort.

It began 2 years ago, on Dec 3, 2008.  We started with a goal
of sending 20,000 cards.  We did that and more.  The current
total is 27,120.

I hearby declare victory and will now look for another worthy
cause.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Stay tuned.
